This month’s Success Report is about the benefit of your dreams. Enjoy! Don’t Shop for Your Dreams at a Yard Sale I was on the phone doing some dream coaching. I said to everyone on the call, “Tell me one small dream you have—one you feel you could accomplish in 12 months or less.” After a pause, a timid voice came across the line. It was Tina. “I want a piano,” she said. “Okay” I replied, “Tell me about this piano.” She answered, “I don’t care what it looks like or where it comes from, I just want a piano.” Are you like Tina when it comes to your dreams? Are your dreams vague and very generic? When you dream, does it feel like money is leaving your pocket? Are you settling for getting your dreams at a yard sale instead of picturing yourself walking into the most elegant store and paying for your dreams—with cash? If I just described you, then you’re at the right place to learn how to dream! Picture yourself right now, having accomplished one of your dreams. Make the image vivid in your mind. You have cash (lots of it) in your hand and you’re getting ready to walk through the doors of the most expensive store to purchase your dream. Perhaps you’re walking through the door to schedule a getaway vacation for you and your family. This is the first step in making your dreams a reality—you need to actually “live it” in your mind. In fact, take out a sheet of paper and write a detailed description of a day in the life of you as if you were actually living out your dream. Remember, you aren’t going to settle for anything less than the best—no going to the yard sale to purchase your dream! This is a powerful step to ending procrastination that you just took. I can’t tell you enough how I’ve seen people with no ambition, who have gotten clear about a dream, accomplish incredible things for themselves, their families, and the people around them. Another important point about having a dream is this: Surround yourself with big thinkers and big dreamers. Get the right people around you who can help you expand your dreams. Search for those people who are making their dreams become a reality. Hire someone to help you think big. I thought I had big dreams until I hired a business coach. Amazingly, she drew out of me bigger, bolder dreams than I ever imagined. There’s so much to life and you don’t want to miss out on any of it. Dream big! If you don’t dream, or dream so small that you’re bored, you will always fight procrastination. So how did my dream coaching end with Tina? After a few minutes of talking with her and asking her questions, she knew the name of the piano she wanted to purchase. She knew what it would look like and where she would get it. The best part was when she stood in the location of where her piano was going to go, while we were on the phone together! Now that’s enough to make a person want to get out of bed the next morning to work with renewed passion and focus! Until next time, keep that vivid dream in front of you!
